 Omnipole (UK) Ltd company's profile

Cleaning systems for securely working at height
February 21st 2007

Omnipole (UK) Limited is primarily focused on developing cleaning systems for securely working at height. Since incorporation in 1998, safety together with speed and efficiency of cleaning has been its motivation.

Omnipole initially introduced the window cleaning market to a small range of van mounted water fed pole systems. These comprised a choice of a 600 litre or 1100 litre baffled tank mounted on a galvanised steel chassis secured to the vehicle with under floor plates, teamed with water purification, pumping system and aerospace alloy telescopic poles sourced from Omnico Inc, USA.

The programme quickly evolved through interaction with its associate business, PH Cleaning Services, to develop additional essential components to the basic water fed pole system. An onboard power source was introduced together with an electronic “tank full” cut-out switch. Through this early communication with customers, Omnipole recognised that a portable system was crucial for use across the whole range of exterior window cleaning.

After months of development and consultation, the 50 litre independently powered Omnitrolley was born. Its flexibility allowed access and easier cleaning to hitherto inaccessible areas, light wells, courtyards, etc, located within commercial buildings. The Omnitrolley, an instant hit with commercial window cleaners, offered an opportunity to domestic window cleaners on a tight budget to utilise this revolutionary method of cleaning.

Omnipole’s next step was purchasing the business, tooling, moulds and further expertise from Omnico Inc. This progression enhanced further refinement of the essential telescopic pole together with a vast range of accessories through in-house R&D,communication and partnering with specialist suppliers across the globe.

In 2001, PH Cleaning Services undertook cleaning to the glazing, cladding and, surprisingly, brickwork at London Underground’s Gloucester Road Station. From this, two further revolutionary advancements materialised. Firstly, a chance remark to Omnipole’s Glyn Howard that it would be great to have a vacuum system to remove debris from high level areas. A prototype was produced and development of the patented OmniVac system began. The OmniVac is now fully operational, cleaning high ledges and sills as well as, and perhaps most significantly, the clearing of gutters.

The second revolutionary advancement, the cleaning of brick and stone using Omnipoles, culminated in the cleaning of Stockholm’s main rail terminus building without the use of chemicals. The Health & Safety Executive are shortly releasing a Working at Height film together with relevant literature. Omnipole’s systems and staff play starring roles. The film demonstrates safe gutter cleaning, window

cleaning and the latest Omnipole innovation - building surveying. The OmniCam observes andrecords the surveys using state-of-the-art high level camera/video equipment. HSE staff were amazed at the speed with which years of grime and algae were removed from a canopy; less than five minutes, and they were fascinated by seeing from the ground just as well as their crew in a cherry-picker!

With all this progress and innovation, Omnipole’s staff have not lost touch with understanding and meeting customer requiremens. Dedicated to high standards of customer service, Omnipole is propelled and empowered to innovate and develop new products by its customers needs.
