Chemical-free cleaners = nature’s most effective solution
February 27th 2008

Matt Anderson, Director of Green Planet Solutions looks at the GPn range of chemical free cleaners and their benefits to business and the environment.

As businesses make efforts to reduce their environmental impact, many often overlook areas where simple changes can mean a big difference. Harmful chemicals and acids are constantly under review and are extremely damaging to the environment but are still often used as standard practice in washroom cleaning regimes.Companies not only need to consider the health and safety of their workers who use these types of products, but also the damage that can be caused to the eco-system when these harmful chemicals are introduced.

Although rarely publicised, there are actually many ways in which companies can adapt in order to prevent their washroom activity having a negative impact on the environment. The first step would be to replace all cleaning products that contain harmful chemicals with a microbiological alternative such as the GPn range of products.GPn2 and GPn3 use friendly bacteria and enzymes to clean and unlike chemicals that evaporate within minutes,GPn2 and GPn3 continue to work 24 hours a day 365 days of the year actively seeking out the bad bacteria. The products contain unique stabilised bacteria and enzymes which digest organic waste, eliminating the source of bad odours such as ammonia from urine which is generally the main cause of negative washroom perception.

Using a microbial product for cleaning is ultimately the most effective cleaning agent available because it continues working after application. By supplementing nature’s proven ability to breakdown organic waste we are going back to using the oldest and most effective cleaning solution. Many companies that have implemented the GPn multi-purpose cleaner have also found that they can actually eliminate the need for up to five other cleaning products, enabling them to cut down on costs, use less packaging and improve efficiency.

Using eco-friendly products can also cut down on paperwork. Under the REACH directive, companies are required to register any harmful chemicals used by workers or the company;however this does not apply to the GPn range of products as they are chemical-free. GPn products are also COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) free which means companies save time on form filling and protect their staff.

The GPn range is just one example of the chemical free solutions offered by Green Planet Solutions, also available is the eco-cube and the Germ Warfare range of products. Green Planet Solutions is also developing new products for market, including a bio-sachet cleaner and a chemical-free stainless steel and glass cleaner.
